Once the foundations were done, the slab and first floor frame can be starter.

Below are the photos of the building of the ground floor.

First we needed to build the retaining wall which will be filled with concrete and have the drainage material placed in front of it.

Then the slab is laid.

Clint smooths the slab. As it happens, it rained that night.

Soon the John, Clint, Rod and Greg were onto the frame for the ground floor. The block wall this end is to protect the boiler for the hydronics heating. This means that the whole home will be heated using our own wood. That, together with the wood frame ..... how sustainable are we?

"Look everybody, this is where our front door will go. For the moment, watch your step!"

This is visitor's bedroom 1 - a south westerly aspect. We will try to have some walls for you.

After a busy day, Allan tests the bed for you. Perhaps a thicker mattress might help.

Here is Kerryn sitting in our cellar safe and sound, looking after the booze and our preserved fruits.

OK, the shower may be cold at the moment, but at least you have the privacy of the forest.

And finally, the view through your bedroom window. Mind the clay! It's very slippery.

The blocks will be rendered and painted but first have to be laid.
